This is a wedding, not a cocktail party. I think short black dresses at weddings is tacky (and I\'ve been to dozens of weddings). Dressy enough? Yes. Appropriate? No.

I think it is formal enough, but I would take the heal up a few inches to make the outfit look more sophisticated. And add some big diamond stud earrings

If it\'s for a black tie wedding the dress should be much longer

This dress looks nice on you (I personally disagree about it being tacky to wear a short black dress to a wedding) but I don\'t think it\'s formal enough for black tie. Despite the sparkle detail up top the siloutte is too casual.

In my opinion it is formal enough for the event you described. From what I can see of the shoes, I would experiment with a strappy black evening sandal (I\'m thinking these are simply peep-toe pumps, not sandals). I\'d go very simple on the jewelry, to keep the look classy and not detract from the embellishment of the dress itself

I feel like it depends where the black tie is- NYC, this may be too casual...SF, it would work!

I think for a black tie wedding at night, I\'d put on black tights or stockings (except if you\'re in Miami) Otherwise, Metallic pumps or sandals of some kind. Secondly, I would focus on Jewelry to glam up the look.

VERY CUTE! could add maybe some bangles on your wrist?, big earrings, or a big fashion ring to jazz it up a bit and make it a little more dressy if you\'re worried

This looks like skirt and top, not a dress, right? I think skirt and top is hard to pull off for a black tie wedding...though I do love the top on you!

It doesn\'t seem quite formal enough to me. Gorgeous pumps and adressy bracelet could make all the difference

I don\'t know how I missed the words \"black tie\" in my first review, but I wanted to say that as flattering as this dress is, \"black tie\" does require a formal, full-length gown. But have fun wearing this dress to lots of other places! ;)

I think it is adorable and looks great on you. The shoes look good, but strappy sandals might be more appropriate for a black tie wedding.

I\'m going to have to agree with Phyllis F. While the dress is haute to trot, I think it is more for cocktail with the besties! If you came to my wedding in your dress, I would not be happy. For your height, you need something at the knee. It appear that you have the correct fabric option. So I would purchase a longer dress that is fitted and shows off your great arms. Another tip - if you get a dress...

Good fit, but needs a dash of sophistication. Sleek ponytail, clean makeup, higher heel and definitely accessories. I\'d stick to diamond stud earrings and layered bracelets.

I love the dress as well as your hair cut! Love the bangs! I\'m not sure I like the shoes with it. I think you could totally pull this off at a wedding.

Sorry, definitely not! I think it\'s a cute dress and you look great in it. But I think the tight fit + short length means it isn\'t the right choice for a black tie wedding. I say keep it long and close-fitting, or short and less clingy, but not both!

I think so, but it depends where it is. Also, what\'s the material like? Is it fancy or more cotton-like? If fancier material, I would say go for it.

it\'s ok--higher heels and some bling would help----
put your hair up also and do a great makeup and you can make this appropraite

it can work--put your hair up, great smokey eye makeup, some bling and a strappy high heel--those shoes dont work at all....

The dress is simple but elegant Id say wear it but definitley take the heels up a few inches this will elongate your legs as well! If you put your hair up and add an earring you will be set :)

you look adorable, as far as formality, this is not your wedding, so don\'t show up in a show stealing gown. Cocktail wear is appropriate.

Higher shoes and strappy - maybe even metallic shoes

Yes, it works for a black tie wedding - love the cocktail length! Pair with some bangles.

Great style on you! I wish I could pull that off. I\'d get flashier shoes. Maybe red or black and white patterned.

Most formal weddings or weddings after 6pm require floor length dresses. Your dress is very pretty, but I\'d wear something longer.

Great dress, but too short for a black tie wedding.

Black Tie Wedding is long dresses! It would be good for a cocktail party or wedding asking for cocktail attire but I don\'t think its a Black Tie Appropriate dress.

i am beginning to agree with some others, in that you may want to look for something longer or switch up the shoes and accessorize properly. cute dress, you look great in it but i\'m not sure about black tie appropriate?!?

This is an adorable dress and black is certainly formal, but there is too much skin for a \"black tie\". I would go at least knee-length (pencil style because it looks like you love your body and feeling sexy).

I think this is a very good look for you. The shoes are perfect, especially for black tie. What are you thinking about for earrings?

No- for a black tie event, your dress should be floor length. Other than that, it is fine.

This is the LBD moment where you need to make that go to dress work. I think it would work as weddings in general have become more relaxed. Black is the smart choice and the hint of embellishment at the neck panel indicates that the focus of bling goes to your wrist and ears. Your hair should be done up but not too severe - a messy chignon perhaps? The shoes have to be other than black. Any fun metallic...

Black is fine for weddings now, and short is fine for formal. However, weddings often get people into more traditional mind frames. Ask a member of the wedding party how the families are interpreting black tie. I think you can go a step or two less dressy than the wedding party. If you want to go with you LBD, don\'t worry about heel height (go with what you\'re comfortable in), but shoe distinctiveness...

I think this is cute for a night on the town but its a little too short for a formal black tie wedding. I would also wear hose with it. If you decide to wear it to the wedding I would use a nice wrap and bump the shoes up.

If this is a black tie wedding I would bring the length to knee something about the neckline is just throwing me off here. I actually think this dress would look better without the beading and instead of black dress with black heels why not try something different on the feet. Closed toe heels for black tie would seem more appropriate.

length is a bit too short for a formal wedding. Need higher heels with this dress where ever you wear it.

i think the dress is fine, but I would change up the heels (maybe strappys that also have some sort of jewel detail like the neckline) and get some amazing jewelry to really spice it up a bit. Maybe some earrings, or bracelets. And since the neckline is the \"wow\" factor to this dress NO necklace.

This dress is super cute, you should keep it, there will be lots of occasions to wear it, but not for this wedding. Black tie means long dress.

The dress is absolutely fine for a black tie wedding. The shoes are a bit low for evening heels, though. Adding an inch would add tons of style.

I think it is a great outfit, and for a cocktail party with a higher heel and the right accessories, it would be fabulous. For a black tie wedding, I would go with a more formal look.

No, I think it is too short to be considered \"formal\", forget about black tie. Black tie should be even more dressy than formal. Black tie means that the guys are suppsoed to wear tuxedos and women should wear the equivalent. If your dress was just past the knees it would probably be ok.

The shapes don\'t flow well. Maybe with some strappy slightly higher heel shoes.

It\'s cute but not for a Black Tie wedding.
You need elegance.

This dress does not scream black-tie elegance...however, it could possibly be pulled off with some serious jewelry and a more elegant/strappy heel. I can\'t quite tell if there are tiers in the skirt portion? The beading is lovely.

It\'s just too short for it to be dressy enough. I\'m not a huge fan of black at weddings, but the shape of this one and the length keep it from being formal enough for black tie.

I don\'t think it\'s formal enough for a black tie event. For a gallery opening, or drinks in a nice bar or a dinner party, it\'s great but a cocktail dress isn\'t the same as black tie.

wait! why should i change this?
- this doesn't do you justice
- there's too much going on
- it needs something else
- it's the wrong size
- it's not right for this event
DONE!WHAT DO YOU THINK?
